Barns Courtney本名Barnaby George “Barns” Courtney，1990年出生于英国伊普斯威奇，虽然是本土英国人，但在四岁的时候他的家人便和他一同前往美国西雅图生活，直到15岁那年才回到英国老家。在成为独立音乐人之前，Barns Courtney组建了一支英伦摇滚乐队SleeperCell，当时还参加了英国电视台Channel 4的独立音乐比赛Orange Unsigned，最终他们成功与Island Records唱片公司签约，并在2012那一年得到了Download音乐节的演出机会。
