Laura Fygi celebrates her 25-year-long career as a solo singer (before that she was a member of Dutch girlgroup Centerfold) with this 2-CD set. And by doing that, she has given her fans a say in the matter as well. Disc 1 consists of twenty fan favourites, tracks that were most voted for by fans all over the world. Most of her original albums are represented here with at least one track which makes it the perfect showcase of all of her extraordinary musical collaborations over the years. The opening track ‘Dream A Little Dream’ comes from her debut album ‘Introducing’, an album that won her an Edison (the Dutch equivalent of a Grammy). Then there are also tracks she recorded with the legendary Michel Legrand, as well as tracks recorded live at London’s jazz club Ronnie Scott’s. One of the many highlights here is the exquisite French version of ‘Fly Me To The Moon’. Apparently the number one fan favourite was ‘Sabor A Mi’ which coincidentally is also Laura’s personal favourite. Disc 2 is a real treat for the fans. It contains 12 tracks that were recorded over the years but didn’t make the final tracklist of the original albums or were only released in selected territories, among them ‘All I Ask Of You’ from Phantom Of The Opera and a mesmerizing live rendition of ‘One For My Baby’ with some fantastic piano playing by Laura’s steady pianist, Hans Vroomans. Congratulations to Laura on her 25th anniversary as a solo artist. Looking forward to more musical pearls to be added to her catalogue in the years to come. Songs |
