エンニオ・モリコーネは、映画やテレビのために400以上の楽曲、さらに100以上のクラシック作品を作曲しました。彼はアイコニックな西部劇のサウンドトラックでよく知られていますが、『ニュー・シネマ・パラダイス』、『タタール人の砂漠』、『労働者階級は天国に入る』といった社会的テーマを扱った映画の音楽でも高く評価されています。

モリコーネは多岐にわたる分野に関心を持ち、社会的な活動にも積極的でした。彼の業績は決して西部劇音楽に限定されるものではなく、彼はまさに史上最も成功した作曲家の一人です。

この2004年のミュンヘン放送管弦楽団とのコンサートは、モリコーネ本人が自作を指揮した数少ない記録のひとつであり、ドイツで彼が自身の音楽を初めて公開で指揮した歴史的な公演です。今回初めて、すべての音楽配信サービスおよびCDで公開されました。
