| Anton Bruckner’s Ninth Symphony, his last and unfinished work, is a monumental testimony to the composer’s spiritual and musical vision. She combines tremendous orchestral power with deep introspection and culminates in a deeply moving adagio. Supposedly dedicated to "the majesty of all majesties, the dear God," the symphony reflects Bruckner’s deep faith and is characterized by rich harmonies and extraordinary emotional depth. Founded in 1912, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra is one of Sweden’s most prestigious orchestras known not only for its interpretations of Nordic composers such as Sibelius and Stenhammar, but also for his Bruckner recordings repeatedly received. The orchestra frequently goes on international tours and performs regularly in its homestead, the Louis de Geer Concert Hall, where this recording was also created. The musical direction has Karl-Heinz Steffens, who has earned an excellent reputation both as an opera conductor and as a specialist for the late romantic and modern repertoire of the 20th century.
