Premiered on 27 November 1926 conducted by Eugen Szenkar at the Cologne Opera, Germany, it caused a scandal and was subsequently banned on moral grounds. Although more successful at its Prague premiere, it was generally performed during the rest of Bartók’s life in the form of a concert suite, which preserves about two-thirds of the original pantomime’s music. /// Label: Elatus – 0927-46725-2 Format: CD, Country: Germany Released: 2002 Genre: Classical Style: Modern /// Tracklist: 1 First tableau : The Shrove.tide Fair 7:17 2 First tableau: Danse russe 2:48 3 Second tableau; Petrushka 4:20 4 Third tableau: The Blackamore 3:16 5 Third tableau: Valse 3:13 6 Fourth tableu: The Shrove-tide Fair and the death of Petrushka 1:01 7 Fourth tableu: Wet-nurse’s dance 2:35 8 Fourth tableu: Peasant with bear 1:28 9 Fourth tableu: Gypsies and rake vendor 1:09 10 Fourth tableu: Dance of the coachman 2:04 11 Fourth tableu: Masqueraders 1:27 12 Fourth tableu: The scuffle: Blackamore and Petrushka 0:42 13 Fourth tableu: Death of Petrushka 0:52 14 Fourth tableu: Police and the juggler 1:23 15 Fourth tableu: Apparition of Petrushka double 0:51 16 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, Allegro (Introduction) 1:13 17 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19 18 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, First decoy 1:27 19 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, Ashabby old rake enters 2:10 20 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, Second decoy 1:16 21 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, Ashy lad appears in the doorway 1:50 22 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, Third decoy 1:08 23 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, With orror she sees a sinister 0:30 24 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, The Mandarin enters 0:44 25 Béla Bartòk: The Miraculous Mandarin Op.19, General commotion 1:42 |
