| Look, my entire twenties so far: people asking when I’ll stop being mad and start settling. When I’ll be grateful for the bare minimum. I won’t. Someone tells me to “calm down” and suddenly my blood pressure spikes so hard I could power a small city. ILUKA gets it. Her new album the wild, the innocent, & the raging says what we’ve all been thinking but have been too polite to scream out loud. It’s 14 tracks of genre-blending alt-pop with Stevie Nicks’ mystique, Janis Joplin’s grit, and the kind of 70s soul that makes you want to drive fast with the windows down and your middle finger up. The album title alone tells you everything. She’s young enough to still believe things can change and she’s absolutely raging about the state of literally everything. And honestly? It’s the most valid thing I’ve heard all year.
