“Ensemble K remains classical music without borders!” – La Voix du Nord

In the Cosmos project, Ensemble K and Simone Menezes explore the planets of Gustav Holst. The concert is introduced by the piece Via Lactea – Zodiaco by Nicolas Bacri, composed specifically for this program. The orchestration of Holst’s work was specially created for Ensemble K by British composer George Morton. It can also be performed, introduced by La Création du Monde by Darius Milhaud.

This project has been presented in a multidisciplinary format with two distinct approaches and intentions. During its premiere in 2022, it was performed alongside a live painting by Matthias Duhamel, who created a large tableau inspired by the musical gestures of Holst’s work.

In the 2023 version, the project evolved to include an intervention by actor Volodia Serre (in French, German, Italian, or English), drawing parallels between the planets and Jung’s archetypes, which resonate within our collective imagination about various human personality profiles—the King, the Magician, the Warrior, and others.
